IE Address Bar

address bar

This is where you would type in the address of a web site you would like to visit, for example http://www.microsoft.com/. Normally you can enter the address without typing in the http:// as Internet Explorer will check and add that if necessary.

A web address can also be called a URL or Uniform Resource Locator. Once you have typed the address you can either press 'Enter' or click the 'Go' button on your browser.

The page will then be displayed. Make sure you type the right address, if you enter the address incorrectly, or in some cases if you get the capitalisation wrong, you will get a page not found error. Web addresses are normally entered in lower case.
Internet Explorer 5.0 also has a feature that automatically completes previously typed URL's

IE Link Bar

The links Bar contains shortcuts to the web pages setup by the Options Menu. These can be edited using the "Organize Favorites" option in the "Favorites" Menu.
